Shopify variant option preflight

Check option-name changes before importing.

Compare a current Shopify product export with the CSV you plan to import. Find products whose variant option names were reordered, renamed, or changed in count.

Private by design — both CSV files are read in this browser and never uploaded.

Choose both files. Each needs Shopify's Handle and Option1–Option3 Name columns.

What to do with a warning
  1. Keep the original export and planned file unchanged.
  2. Review affected products in Shopify's official import guidance before proceeding. When changing option positions, Shopify documents a temporary option name followed by a later rename import.
  3. Test a small sample and check the result in your store. This checker only compares column names; it does not create a repaired CSV or guarantee that an import will succeed.

Why compare both files?

A product can use several CSV rows for variants. Shopify can reject a proposed import when option names conflict with the product's existing option structure. A same-file format check cannot see that difference, so this page compares the option schema by product Handle across two files.

Handles and option labels appear in the on-screen findings and downloaded report. The comparison stays on your device; review the report before sharing it.
